thousand years when his
observances were over, (Viswamitra)
was all set to partake
food;
at which moment
Indra,assuming the guise of
a twice-born (Brahmin), begged
for that food which had
been served (5).

same manner, he observed
for another thousand

arose smoke from his
head, due to which
all the three
worlds became non-plussed and

Then, the gods,
the sages, the Gandharvas,

were rendered deluded
and diminished
