Prayed   to   thus   by   the   best   among   celestials,   that   Vishnu,   the   abode   of everything,   though   all-knowing,   spoke   the   following   sweet   words   to   the Gods   (1).

Being   queried   thus,   all   the   gods   thereupon   replied   the   indeclinable   Lord Vishnu:   `Taking   up   a   human   form,   may   you   destroy   Ravana
in   battle   (3).

Oh!   Suppressor   of   enemies!   He   is   one   who   has   observed   long   years   of austerities.   Because   of   that   the   creator   of   the   worlds
Lord   Brahma,   who was   born   before   every   living   creature,   was   greatly   pleased   (4).

Having   become   so   pleased,that   Lord   bestowed   on   this   demon   the   boon   that   he will   have   nothing   to   fear   from   the   various   beings,   apart   from   a   human   (5).

`O!   Scorcher   of   adversaries!   Thus,   having   secured   such   a   boon   from   the Grandsire,   filled   with   arrogance,   he   is   tormenting   all   the   three   worlds and   outraging   the   modesty   of   females   and   as   such,   his   death   is   seen   through a   human'   (7).

Listening   to   these   words   of   the   gods   in   this   manner,   the   self-contolled Lord   Vishnu   decided   then   to   have   king   Dasaratha

Also   at   that   juncture,   that   extremely   resplendent   king,   destroyer
of enemies   and   who   was   issueless,   performed   the   sacrifice   for   obtaininga   son,   desirous   of   that   goal   (9).
