1   to   12.Bharata   journeying   in   a   chariot   enterd   ayodhya   quickly.   The   city   appeared   haunted by   cats   and   owls,   obscured   by   darkness   and   devoid   of   light;   desolate   like   Rohini,   consort   of moon,   tormented   by   planet   rahu;   attenuated   like   a   mountain   stream   whose   scanty   waters had   become   hot   and   turgid;   like   a   fully   developed   flame   devoid   of   smoke   and   bright   as   gold but   reduced   to   extinction;   like   an   army   which   had   met   reverses   in   a   major   conflict;   appeared like   a   ocean   wave   rendered   noiseless   when   stirred   by   a   queit   wind;   like   an   altar   which,   when the   period   of   offerings   has   expired,   has   been   cleared   of   all   implements   and   deserted   by   the priests   and   noise   had   ceased;   like   a   cow   wanting   a   bull   for   copulation   but   bereft   of   it   standing in   the   cow-pen   without   eating;   like   a   new   necklace   of   pearls   stripped   of   its   highly   polished excellent   rubies   and   other   gems;   like   a   star   fallen   from   the   heavens   on   the   earth   shorn   of   light; like   a   blighted   creeper   laden   with   blossom   at   the   close   of   spring   scorched   by   a   raging   wild   fire.
