1.Jabali,   a   brahmin,   told   the   following   words   which   were   contrary   to   the   religion,   as   Rama consoled   Bharata.

2.Jabali   told   Rama   that   though   his   words   were   right,   such   resolution   like   an   ordinary   man ought   not   to   have   been   made   by   one   with   good   understanding   and   given   to   austerities.

3.Jabali   told   Rama   that   no   man   is   the   friend   of   anyone,   nor   is   anything   to   be   gained   by   anyone from   anyone   else;   for   a   creature   is   born   alone   and   dies   alone.

5,6.Jabali   told   Rama   that   just   as   a   man   travelling   from   one   village   to   another   will   spend   a   night and   move   on   the   next   day,   so   also   for   a   man   mother,   father,   house   and   wealth   are   only shelters.   and   the   wise   should   not   get   attached   to   those.

7.Jabali   told   Rama   not   to   embark   on   an   unexplored   and   wrong   path   paved   with   difficulties and   thorns   by   giving   up   the   kingdom.

8.Jabali   told   Rama   that   he   must   get   himself   consecrated   since   the   city   of   ayodhya   waits   for him.

9.Jabali   told   Rama   that   he   should   live   in   ayodhya   and   enjoy   the   royal   pleasures   like   Indra   does in   heaven.

10.Jabali   told   Rama   that   he   was   not   related   to   Dasaratha   nor   Dasaratha   to   him.   He   was   not the   king   while   the   king   was   not   him.   Jabali   advised   Rama   to   do   as   suggested.
