1,2.Agastya,   the   glorious   sage,   who   had   come   to   witness   the   battle   come   in   the   company   of   gods   seeing   Rama   exhausted   in   battle   standing   absorbed   in   thought,   preparing   for   battle   on   seeing   Ravana   standing   facing   him,   approached   Rama   and   spoke   the   following   words.

3,4,5.Agastya   told   the   mighty   armed   Rama,   a   delight   to   all,   to   listen   to   that   by   which   he   be   victorious   over   all   enemies.   The   eternal   secret   in   the   form   of   a   holy,   supremely   blessed,   giving   victory   by   destroying   all   enemies,   immortal,   supremely   blessed,   the   blessing   of   all   blessings,   root   out   all   sins,   allays   anxiety   and   grief   and   prolonging   life,   to   chant   always   the   excellent   'aditya   hrdayam'.

6.Agastya   told   Rama   to   worship   the   sun   god   rising   crowned   with   rays,   who   is   greeted   by   gods   and   demons,   brings   light   to   the   world   and   the   ruler   of   the   worlds.

7.Agastya   told   Rama   that   the   sub   god   is   surely   the   embodiment   of   all   gods,   full   of   glory,   creates   rays   and   sustains   all   the   gods,   demons   and   the   worlds   with   his   rays.

8.Agastya   told   Rama   that   the   sun   god   is   the   same   as   Brahma,   Lord   Vishnu.   Lord   Siva,   Skanda,   Prajapati   lord   of   creation,   mighty   Indra,   Kubera   god   of   wealth,   kala   the   time   spirit.   Yama,   Soma   the   moon   god   and   Varuna   the   god   of   waters.

Agastya   told   Rama   that  the   Pitrs,  the manes,   the   Vasus,   Sadhyas,   the   two   Aswins,   the Marutas,   Manu,   the Wind   god    and    Agni   god    of   fire    were   the   life   breath   of   the   universe,   the   source   of   seasons    and    the   source    of   light.
