36.The   flames   of   the   fire   when   they   were   raging   at   the   summit   looked   like   the   flowers   of   the   Kimsuka   tree. The   smoke   from   the   subsiding   fireafter   burning   everything   rose   up   to   the   sky, and   mixing   with   the   clouds   presented   the   colour   of   blue   lilies.

37   to   40.Seeing   the   whole   city   along   with   its   houses,   trees   and   living   creatures   burning
simultaneously,   many   of   the   Rakshasa   leaders   gathered   together   and   began   to   speak
among   themselves:"Is   this   indra   the   Lord   of   heavens   equipped   with   his   thunder   bolt
weapon?Or   is   it   Yama   the   Lord   of   righteousness?   Or   is   it   Varuna   the   Lord   of   the   sea or   is   it   Vayu   the   wind   God?   Can   it   beLord   Rudra?   Or   is   it   Agni   or   the   Sun   diety? Or   Kubera   or   the   moon   diety?   It   is   not   a   monkey   but   the   embodiment   of   death   himself. Can   it   be   the   terrible   anger   of   Brahma   the   four   faced   Father   of   the   worlds   come   here in   the   form   of   a   monkey   to   effect   the   destruction   of   the   Rakshasas?   Or   is   it   the   embodiment of   the   all   powerful   Vishnu   adopting   the   monkey's   form   by   the   power   of   maya   that   power of   Vishnu   which   is   measureless,   which   is   beyond   thought   and   perception,   and   which   is unequalled   by   any   other   power?"
