30 to 35.Rama
told Lakshmana to make
a funeral pile on the
banks of
godavari river.
After ordering Lakshmana as
above Rama carrying Jatayu
went towards
godavari river and on reaching
there he laid Jatayu
on the
bank filled
with kusa grass and thereafter
made a funeral pile out
the logs
of wood
brought by Lakshmana, made
fire by attrition. He told
Jatayu that
he has
attained the final resting
place reserved for those
who perform
sacrifices, maintained
sacred fire. never retreated
on a battle field and
made
gifts of
land in the unsurpassed
realms having been cremated
by him. So
saying Rama
cremated Jatayu as if he
