2   to   6.Vaikanasas,   Valkilyas,   Samprokshas,   Marichas,   Ashmakuttas,      
those   ascetics   who   ate   only   leaves,   who   use   tooth   as   pestle   and   mortar,  
doing   penance   in   neck   deep   water,   those   using   limbs   of   body   for   bed,    
those   without   bed,   those   without   respite   from   penance,   sages   living   on      
water,   others   on   air,   those   having   sky   as   the   roof,   those   sleeping   on   the  
ground,   those   who   controlled   their   senses,   those   wearing   wet   clothes,  
those   doing   japas,   those   doing   penance   sitting   in   the   middle   of   five   fires,  
all   possessed   of   Brahmic   lutre   and   with   mind   concentrated   through   steadfast  
practice   yogas   approached   Rama.

8.The   sages   told   Rama   that   as   Indra   is   lord   of   the   gods,   he   was   the   lord   of  
the   world   and   the   foremost   of   the   Ikshvaku   dynasty.

9.The   sages   told   Rama   that   he   was   well   known   in   all   the   three   worlds   by  
virtue   of   his   fame   and   valour.   Righteousness,   devotion   to   father   and   thruth  
all   are   his   virtues.
