MSK 1 - MOTOR SKILL - 1
 
 MOVES HEAD TO SIDE WHILE ON BACK.
 
MATERIALS  REQUIRED : Torch, brightly coloured  toy,  squeaky  toy etc.
 
 
ACTIVITIES
 
ACTIVITY - 1
 
Place child in the playpen or in a crib or on a mat, on  his  back.
Using your finger or a feather, tickle him at one corner  of  the mouth.
Help him turn his head to the side of the face being  stimu lated.
Help him turn his head to the side of the face being  stimu lated.
 Repeat on the other side.
Extend one arm outward.
Bend the other arm upward.
Gently aid child to turn to side of extended arm.
 
ACTIVITY - 2
 
Display any bright or shiny object or flash a penlight torch  at  about 12" to 18" from child from one side. 
Gently  aid  child turn his head towards the object  or  the light. 
Alternate with the other side.
Increase distance gradually. 
 
ACTIVITY - 3
 
Stack a soft pillow on one side of child's head. 
Raise head slightly on that side. 
Show any attractive object to child to retain his attention. 
Now positon child with head to the other side. 
Adjust  child's  position so that he is comfortable  on  his back. 
Show the attractive object to child, from this position. 
Retain his attention. 
ACTIVITY - 4
 
Hold  a torchlight or any bright object or squeak a  toy  at  about one foot in front of child and at eye level. 
Move  it slowly from one side to the other in an arc of  180 degrees to make child raise head. 
 ACTIVITY - 5
 
Blow gently frome one side of child's face. 
Stroke or touch child's arm or his side. 
Gently move his head towards you. 
Talk to child, call out his name from one side of the crib. 
Hold  his  face with a slight pressure on it,  towards  you, while you talk. 
 Reward  him  with a pat, when he moves head to side  on  his own, hearing you talk.
