1   to   8.Having   entered   the   Dandakaranyaka   forest,   the   courageous   and  
invincible   Rama   saw   kusa     grass   and   tree   bark   scattered   about,   an   all    
pervading   effulgence,   just   as   none   can   bear   the   radiance   of   the   sun,   no        
one   with   evilintent   could   enter   the   hermitage.   This   hermitagegave   happiness  
to   all   living   beings,   was   beautiful   with   cleared   places   filled   with   fearless  
wandering   deer,   groups   of   birds,   groups   of   apsaras   dancing   and   worshiping,  
spacious   altars   for   yagna,   beautiful   with   garland,   utensils,   deerskins,   kusa   grass,  
grass,   samit   grass,   pots   filled   with   water,   fruits,   and   roots.   The   ashrama   was  
filled   with   huge   trees   with   tasty   and   pure   fruits;   forever   there   was   the   sacred    
sound   of   the   chant,   scattered   with   wild   flowers,   ponds   with   lotuses.   Here   lived  
the   ancient   sages   who   had   conquered   their   senses,   wore   deer   skin   and     bark,  
ate   fruits   and   roots.the   hermitage   shone   with   these   great   sages   of   controlled  
diet,   was   like   the   abode   of   Brahma   because   of   continous     vedic   chanting;  
was   radiant   with   great   knowledgeahmins   who   had   knowledge   of   the   Brahma.
